Hi all,
I just got the nikon 28mm f2.8D as a gift and I am not sure if I should return it and get a better lens or not. I do need a good quality wide-angle lens and I have read the reviews on this. It is supposed to do extra sharp at f5.6/f8 but has problems at f2.8. Give me some suggestions please.
Thanks!

you seem to have a 50 and a 60mm and a zoom that covers that range.
What sort of photography do you like to do? I would be inclined to get either a fisheye lens (or contribute toward one with that cost of that lens) or get the 105mm lens (which I love).
I am sure other people have other great suggestions too. |

A decent prime lens shouldn't be terribly soft wide open. So yeah, I think I'd return it.
Edit to add: 28mm it's a good "normal" lens on your cropped sensor camera. If it's reasonable sharp at usable apertures, it's actually a nice walk around lens.

That is sort of the feeling I got when I was reading the reviews. The 105mm is at least 3 times more pricey than this one. so I don't think I'd have the budget for that yet. If I do return it, I don't know what else to get.
About the Fisheye, never had experience using Fisheye. And though I have seem many good fisheye entries that I liked, I am not big on that yet. I am gonna do some research tonight and hopefully someone will give me some advice.
