If anyone with experience installing and using eye one in a PC would send me a step by step procedure written in dummy language I would appreciate it.
The doc that came with the product assums I knew something. They say it is a simple four step install and use but I got lost on step one.....Install...Rather than the cd asking if I want to install when it is first read I had to muddel around about an hour before I discovered the command embeded somewhere under FILE. You'd think if you looked in the cd directory i'd be there. I think I have it loaded but, I also need to del. Adobe gama but my pc won't let me do it. I must not know how. I have win XP.
I did finally get it to take an unassisted measurement and I saved it to somewhere but I haven't done any adjusting like the disk says I will do. No ambient light measure either.
Anyway, I need a complete set of HELP.
Thanks, David |

I think I have one of those here at work as part of an EFI color profiler kit. You are talking about one of these, right?
I'll install it on my PC and get back to you.

| That's a little different from the one I have then. I think they are both actually made by Gretag Macbeth, but mine is a slightly different model sold as an EFI ES-1000. I'll see if what I have is of any help. I'll get back with you on it. |

I loaded what I have on my computer and the installer for the monitor proifiler was found in the following folder:
E:\EFI Color Profiler for Monitors\Roman\setup.exe
I ran this and it installed, ran up the program, entered my activation code and ran the simple calibation. It saved the calibation as the default monitor profile.
If adobe gamma is currently your default profile, to change it, go to control panel-> display-> settings tab -> advanced -> color management tab. From there you can select an alternate calibration profile, add or delete one as needed and choose the default profile.
Hope this is what you needed. I took some screen shots in case they are necessary. Let me know. |

When you insert the CD it pops up a window with 4-5 buttons. Each button installs some different software, one of those is what runs the Eye1 but it is not clear. Click on each to install and I think it becomes clear which one is the one that you want. It doesn't hurt if you install all of them.
Good luck!

I use the Eye One system monthly for calibrating my monitor, and I always skip the ambient light check. For monitor brightness, I just use the gray scale raster that shows under photos that you are voting on in challenges. I make sure that every individual block is visible from white to black. That seems to be very accurate to me. For the rest of the calibration, I use the advanced mode, but just follow the instructions on the screen. In this mode you do have to manually adjust your Red, Green, Blue monitor settings to get the proper color balance.
