I wanted to know how I could achieve similar lighting in my portraits...It doesnt look like the setup is too complicated but I cant get it right....Someone help please

| In the second photo, I am getting something similar to that....But in the first photo I cant seem to get that even spread of light in the middle of the face with just outsides being a little dark....In the first one is the light kinda overhead looking straight on? |

try a black reflector either side of the model

My guesses:
softbox above and (photographer's) right of model; fill light above and left of subject; close ratio with fill light slightly lower power. model far from background with background light (constant or flash) low, behind model, and on (photographer's) right.
octabox (or shoot-through umbrella) high and (photographer's) left of model-notice catchlight in sunglasses; fill light turned more towards background, low, acting mainly to light the background, while still casting a little light on model (notice light strip on model's left temple).
