If you remove the glass from the spectacles, do you think they are still valid for the challenge? |

The reason for the challenge is to learn to not get glare in the glasses.
valid: yes
going to score well: no

That may be your reason, but not the reason for the challenge. Any other reason is as good as yours ;-)
I do think it would cost you though, people might conclude your taking an easy way out.

If its done properly and you don't get any glare no one will know if there is glass there or not. I know my image looks like there is no glass but its there.

I think there's somethng you can get to spray on the lenses which will cut/eliminate the glare, though careful lighting is probably cheaper and safer. |

true. i should have said the perceived intended reason for the challenge based on the challenge description ("Watch out for glare")
i have no idea what the actual reason for the challenge is
:)

No, "Be aware of glare," not watch out for it. Glare and reflections can create interesting effects, though I predict the slightest reflection in the lenses of any glasses will be penalized by some of the voters. Me, I won't give a high score to a harshly lit portrait labelled "Grandma" with bright white glare on her glasses obscuring her eyes. Same image titled differently might work for me, since it would be clear the photographer was aware of what s/he was capturing, or Granny with really cool shades reflecting something interesting ... we'll see what the creative minds at DPC come up with ;-) |
