I was pleasantly surprised that my At Rest entry scored as high as it did (4.917) , but I think I would have scored a little better with the picture I took a week later:

I liked your original submission better -- and even though some didn't like the "muck" in the foreground, I thought it gave the photo character. I didn't rate your photo though and in fact, none of my votes in "at rest" counted because I didn't make the 20% line. I usually vote on all the pictures in a challenge, but this one slipped by me whilst I was on vacation.

I gave you a "7" on your original. Probably a "8" if you didn't use such a large frame. It kind of squeeze the image together and gave a feeling of it clastophobia.

I like you outake image. Possible a "8" but higher if a horizontal cropped was used. Vertical shot provide too much view of water. Maybe getting the whole boat and the beautiful shadow would help with a "10"

Both of them are great shots.

I gave you a 4 for the submission; would've given you an 8 for the other.

I also think that picture would have done better.

And as someone else said, that frame was a bit distracting. Both are very nice pictures though.

The frame didn't bother me too much, but the original was just a bit too cluttered to give me an "at rest" kind of feel. Though, I got what you were going for. I gave it a weak 5 - coulda gone 4.

This shot I would have given a solid 6, and with a little cleanup or a little more effort, could have gone 7 or higher. The simplicity of the single boat, tied at anchor, in the calm water, works very well for conveying a sense of calm.
