Now that's the most sense I've heard anyone make all week.
Doc, I'm in violation on the rule about no whining, but jees it would be good to start the LoD on some challenge we understood.

Yup, sadly I agree with you Falc. In another thread have even said if I get DQ'd then I'll leave dpc, it would seem to be ok to take a shot of the moon once a day for a week but not to use burst mode and select shots to merge - madness! |

That whole thing about 'must use consecutive shots' hasn't been said once by any SC that I have seen. I think someone was just postulating and it was misconstrued as a rule.

I agree with you - I'm just regretting being forced into a challenge which I don't feel has a solid grounding |

I figure the other 99% of the site that doesn't read the forums will assume that 'time lapse' = 'long exposure' so you can probably avoid a DQ and still score well by simply ignoring the challenge. |

Had a quick check but this is the only quote I found....

Well, the object is to show progression of a single natural motion, so if it were a very slow motion (like your sunrise - sunset example), then it would be fine. I don't think you could photograph the same action sequence a dozen times and just pull out the best 10 frames though, because it wouldn't really be a time lapse of a natural motion IMO, but other SC will have to weigh in on that one. |
Maybe I'm just paranoid? |

One of the overlords just said you can cherry pick shots out of a running series so I think you're safe. |

I hope Jason agrees. I don't want to break the rules by whining but I really don't want another DQ as I have 2 recent ones, one self DQ and the next I wasn't around to send in the original because it was so basic (I thought) I went away and didn't send it in and someone asked for validation. Anyway this time round I am totally confused and have to debate if I want to chance it or not. So come on Jason all powerful one listen ... please! |

Don't change the start date. I've put time into mine and I want to see if it gets DQ'd or not.

I haven't gotten an answer in the other thread yet. What is either "single series" or "running series"?

I was just playing around. I doubt Jason will actually do it.
@Ivory - I believe several SCs have already said that DQs in this challenge pertaining to the new rules won't carry the usual penalties so you can at least feel safe about that. Although if you don't want to enter I won't twist your arm. :P

I have my shot planned I will take it & submit it, if it gets DQ'd then I'll bung it in the box with all my other DQ's |

Hmmm that may be the only thing I feel safe about but thanks for passing that on. (I think). |

Only if the shot breaks the new rules of course! breaking an older rule still counts |

From what I can see is...if you have a child run in front of the camera/tripod from one side to another and you do a burst of 10 frames then you can choose maybe 5 of those frames to use....! That is fine. If, however, you make that child run in front of the camera in the same direction again another 2 times.....and....you get another burst of 10 frames from each of those runs...that then gives you 30 frames. You cannot then take 5 of the best and place them in as if it was only one burst.
