This is the result of using Noiseware.
Top one is original

I just tried this myself - quite amazed at the results.
Original shot taken at 1600ISO - fairly noisey
Same with Noiseware applied.

Good stuff

In both instances, the originals seem better to me. It could be just that noise reduction was applied too much, too much smoothing.

That is possible considering that I had only had the programme loaded for about 5 minutes when I did this had not done any proper reading and practice. There are different settings as well as being able to adjust every setting to your own liking. Just wanted to show the difference at the click of a button.

While we are on the subject, is noise removal legal is basic (if applied to entire picture and adds no extra layers) and advanced?

I agree with Monique - simply had a go at the program after seeing this posting - using a shoot that others have commented on as being too noisy - haven't learnt the program but very interested in the results. Seems to be better than what I could get through CS2 (although I never really learnt how to use it properly either)

I do hope so ;) in basic it should be added to the entire image, in advanced I believe you can be selective?

Noiseware is the best free one. I bought noise ninja 2 because it is the best overall.

Yes, if applied globally it is legal in Basic, and it may be applied selectively in Advanced.

Thanks for the link. I just tried out Noiseware amd it's pretty impressive. I prefer the results over Neat Image; it seems to retain some edge detail which Neat Image blurs over.

Thanks for your answers.

I have the pro version of Noiseware and it is fantastic... (won it in a competition on another site)

I used NeatImage before that (it only does 1024px max images in the unlimited (except for that bit) trial version), and was quite impressed with the results.
