No "commercial photographer", no "fashion photographer", no "architectural photographer", what good is that list?

You have to consider the source. It's based on data culled from online job postings. Not a complete or entirely accurate source of data. Comical, however.

Interesting.
These types of things are always skewed. There are a LOT of part time photographers and that would lower the average for most of these categories.
If you work for someone else you get a paycheck. Easy to know that you make.
Most wedding photographers I suppose are self employed, so the big number is what they sell, not what they get paid.
Around here an aveage wedding photo package is about $2000. Over a county the city guys get close to $3300. So do 30 weddings a year and yeah, that's $100,000.
But if you calculate in all the $500 part time shooters the average would drop tremendously I suspect.

Regardless, photography is not a well paying career for about 90% of those that pursue it. Do it for the love of photography!

Try "fashion photographer" - $97,000!

Langdon $39,000
Site Council $60,000

I think they missed a zero somewhere in the first one.

The internet does not lie. Maybe you are just misplacing your paychecks.

CEO...$46.000?
//www.indeed.com/salary?q1=ceo&l1=

How come the guys with that title on the nightly news are in the millions?

I think we'd all better figure out how to start collecting our $35,000 a year for being a person. Will they be sending that along with my tax refund? :)

Its interesting....of the many Christmas cards we got, 12 were Photo Christmas cards. Only ONE was done by a pro. The day of the studio photographer for things like this becomes minimal with all the online do-it-yourself cards.

another thing to take into consideration is location
put in ny,ny the numbers are somewhat different

It's all in the marketing - Call yourself a "hooker" and you only get 29K :-)

this is depressing, I live in an are where if you make 50K a year, you're at the poverty level. God, I hate weddings, but if that's what it takes I'll do it. I won't like it, but I'll do it...or I could just get a second job :) more likely

If you don't like it that will show in your work, your attitude and then it becomes a job like any other - you do it for the money. Not a recipe for success where your personality (attitude) will make you as much if not more money than your photographic skills.

Also, remember, that prices are relative. I live outside Pittsburgh, PA - we have a very very moderate cost of living here, but the paychecks are also moderate, as are the weddings. The best thing is to build up equity in a house in LA and sell it, moving here with $250-300k and buy a new 4000 SF house for cash and have no mortgage payment - then you can work for lower wages and still live well!

Same here - however all the non-pro cards looked like too! Bad WB, bad shadows, redeye on one, lousy BGs, poor exposures, overdone direst flash, no fill flash, etc.

Yeah, you solved it! Craiglist wedding photographers aren't listed as wedding photographer at all, but as CEOs! I guess if you own your own business that's just as valid a title as any other!
