What do you think? B&W or Color for this picture? It was taken in Apalachicola, Fl. It is an old abandoned building that I thought was interesting. Any critique would be great and helpful.
THanks,

Jamie

I think in this case the colour makes it more interesting. Often you need quite strong contrasts to make B&W pictures interesting to look at, whereas in this case you end up with quite a uniform gray.

i agree, color looks better, not enough contrast for b&w

The color one shows the name on the building better.....much more interesting

I really think it is a cool building and the color really works well. I think some adjustments in color balance (bump the yellows and reds), hue/saturation, and some minor curves adjustment would really do a trick on this one.

In fact, I did a quick edit and it came out pretty good -Bumping the reds and yellows really gives it a nice earthy feel. In fact, you can really make out the sign on the building a lot better

Let me know if you want me to post it.

Here is the edit I did

I'd go for the bw & increase teh contrast levels. Either way, you may get some dramatic results increasing the contrast in both versions.

I really love the edit you did, and thanks for sharing details. Im going to play around with it more. Apalachicola really has some cool places to shoot. Lots of old buildings and such.

Here is another shot of the building from the back of the building. Tight spot back there, could not get all of it. Thanks for all the advice.

and here is another one from the side of some flowers growing up the building. This building was really old. When you got a peek looking inside, it was nothing but shrubbery and such growing in there, and there was not a roof on it.
