What about "Mystery Photos" - any photo where it is not immediately apparent what the subject is (usually macro shots, but could be otherwise).
For example, whats this?
(It's a waffle iron.)

I just noticed a similar suggestion not too long ago:
//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=46332
That one pic generated a lots of remarks - imagine what a whole challenge would do!
It would also encourage comments whilst voting - what do you think the subject is? (I'm currently at 2 comments out of 80 votes in the Flight challenge - not an encouraging percentile).

Love the idea of that as a challenge, especially if it encouraged people to have a guess.
I think if that was a challenge it would be good to have the photographer state what the object is in the covering note, as I think that can only be seen after the voting is complete.
I've just got my greatest number of comments yet on a photo, all but one very positive, despite my usual cruddy score (but hey, I have fun ;) and that was an off the cuff shot I took rather than a more planned one. |
