Felt like hell for several days, so I woke up last night when my husband kissed me happy new year. I started the new year off by hitting the health club. OK, here's the time to be truthful ... not to exercise but to use the hot tub in a vain attempt to make my back feel better. Succeeded a bit!
Glad most had a great time.
Also glad to report that the weather has cleared so Kelli should have good luck at the Mummers parade.
Deb, hope thats the closest you come for the rest of the year/your stay!!

| I'll have a funny story to tell you guys after the Ice/Fire challenges. I'll tell you all this much though, I'm in the Ice challenge and during shooting managed to set my backdrop on fire, lol! |

We went to Las Vegas last night as we do every year. They close the strip, and shoot off the fireworks from about 8 locations. Unfortunately, my wife tripped on a curb and injured her recently operated on foot.
But here is a funny thing, we completely missed midnight on purpose. We crossed from Nevada (pacific time zone) into Arizona (mountain time zone) at 11:48 PM. We could have stopped in Mesquite, Navada, but we decided to be different.. |

My free study is sitting around 6.0, and my OI by C is at 5.7.
Looking forward to Ice starting tonight.

| Thanks guys, but not wearing the helmet. It's the reason why Marines have no necks, you know. Darn thing weighs a ton! I may go look for a crater when it gets light out... :-) |

All my family left today, and the house is so dam quiet.....
Spending the day on the computer to catch up with everything, as I have been absent for quiet a lot, due to Nannie duties..... Judd, our grandson, is such a joy.....
I will post some of my favorite photos of him here, as soon as I process them.
Gee, I really missed you all so dam much, and also missed DPC as well.....

Hidden textures and team scores are up in the results thread.  Bear_Music topped Melethia for the week. Congrats also to  quiet_observation and kashi for their personal top 5 scores, and to NikonJeb (if he's still here) for the hidden top score! |

| i entered Ice at the last minute and it was at 6.3 with 3 votes when i went to bed. got up and it was at 4.7. that about where i thought it should be. it sucks but i wanted to eneter something. |

Scoring just over 5 in Contrast, being way lazy and letting the Nikon do all the heavy lifting for me :-)
I plan to enter the multiple exposures challenge, however I'll have to shoot my subject carefully so as to not tip people off...
Oh yeah, no need for fictional bfs now...more details in a few more days' time...;-)

My fire shot, which I really like and is not DPC friendly, is at a respectable 5.1429, with 6 comments, 4 of which pretty much don't like it, one that likes it but would have done it differently, and a positive comment and an "8" from snaffles -- thanks :)
On the other hand, I am very disappointed in my Free Study (anyone who's been around me awhile knows I have only recently had any luck at all with Free Study shots, and even that hasn't been great -- though I do have one Free Study shot in my profile top five). Why? Well, it's at 6.8875, and was as high as 6.995 for a lot of my day :) :) I'm pretty psyched (in case you couldn't guess, and if you didn't pick up on it, the "disappointed" was a joke); I really like this shot (yes, DPC friendly, but not taken to be so, just, well, taken), too.
It's gonna be a long week, so I think it's time to turn scores off . . .
By the way, I'm totally bummed by the change in advanced editing rules, and I may not re-up my membership because of it. I would still stay here, but not pay to play in challenges that are wrapped up in rules that I'm not excited about and that I find to be extremely complicated.
Hoping things are well with all of you in the new year (at least relatively so).
