If the SC makes a decision, regardless what it might be, is it incontrovertible and final?
At DPC there has been a long tradition that SC decisions have been openly discussed and occasionally rules have later been changed; but a decision, once made, has never been publicly reversed and probably never will be.
The rules do say, "All disqualifications are determined by majority vote of the Site Council." But that is only limited to DQs and does not specify that the majority vote of SC is final.
Suggestion:
The rules should specifically state that all SC decisions determined by majority vote are final and not subject to change.
It would save members a great deal of time and effort if they knew, up front, that a decision would not change no matter what contradicting evidence, logic or discussion might be later brought to light. At best discussion might later lead to future rules changes.
Knowing this would reduce divisive questioning of SC decisions and re-focus that energy in more positive ways.

Most of the discussions I've seen have had very little to do with trying to get the SC's to reverse their dicissions. It's been about trying to understand why it was decided that it way. The day that it's not allowed to dicuss any decission by the SC is the day they will lose a lot of members. And there would probably be a few villiages burned on the way out too.

Yours is the majority view. Anyone who disagrees with SC is automatically WRONG!
Thanks, you support my suggested change to the rules. Unlike you, not everyone knows that.

There have been a couple occasions, I believe, where discussion in the forums has led to a reversal of a DQ. So, while SC decision certainly is the final word, they are willing to reverse a decision that seems unreasonable after further review. And discussion of DQs in the forums is very useful for all of us, allowing us to see *why* SC rules the way they do.

There have been reversals of SC decisions? I was unaware of that and would certainly apologize to all concerned that being the case. Can you identify specific decisions that were reversed?

I can't remember them offhand, no, but I can remember them happening once or twice in my 3 years here. I am sure SC will correct me if I am wrong.

I, however, do not remember that ever happening. If real examples can be found then I would rescind my suggestion.
