Hey Everyone,
On January 1st, 2008, I will be starting a new photography site. This is something that has been in the works for over a month. The idea came from the ever popular milliondollarhomepage. My idea though is to take it and make a photography site that is useful for both advertisers and for photographers to look for information and inspiration.
This way it can be a tool for both those wanting to get recognized as well as those looking for help in photography and wanting to see other peoples work. The way my site will work is I have a 1000 x 1000 block of pixels in which I will be selling a pixel for $.10 for advertising. Therefore you can buy a certain amount of pixels, send me your logo, and then I will put your logo on the pixels that you ordered and have it linked to your site to help you get more visitors and customers to your site.
You can see the work in progress at here. On January 1st, It will be launched at thephotographyhomepage.com and i would love to have as many Dpcers on here as possible. If you are interested, please email me at rdpixelproject@gmail.com or you can private message me to reserve a spot and I will get them put on there before I put it up on January 1st. I accept Paypal to offer easy payment, and I look forward to getting support from the DPC crowd. Would love any advice you have to offer.
Thanks so much,
Ryan

All ads will be up until at least January 1st, 2013, or five years from the launch date.

Also something i forgot to add, is that I will be advertising it a lot so as to bring in the most potential customers to everyone else's sites. And if you think of it or feel like it, please advertise for it to other photographers that you know of. It will be hosted at thephotographyhomepage.com as of this Tuesday.

Sounds like an interesting project Ryan.
A couple of quick observations from just now looking at your site:
1) Do you mind that visitors are going to know right off that the first ad is yours? The style of your ad matches the 'Photography Home Page' site. If you don't mind the association then I would work on your graphic. Your graphic is representative of what people may expect from the site. It's pretty much unreadable. Give people confidence that they're making a good decision in spending money to be there.
2) I would target a new window browser with any ads. There's no way back to your site (thephotographyhomepage.com) after leaving it once visitors have left by clicking on a linked ad.
BTW - You have some very nice photos on your personal website. :-) |
