The upper left portion of the background is really disconcerting in that the rest of the shot is static but that bit seems to be moving. Either than or I'm having a flashback.

I'm thinking they look rather 2D...not much depth in them. But then again, what does my eye know?

I'd say light from 45 degrees from one side, and above and slightly behind. But the real lighting experts might be able to help more on that.

And I'm probably the only person that sees them that way.

Try a back light between you and the back ground? to give some distance and make it more dimensional.

I think they are great and I love your SP's. Now I need to muster up some courage.. LOL

I don't care for the first one. I think the background is what bothers me most. But for a profile pose, I think you want more profile lighting that what you have here. Move the light all the way to your right (camera left). Possibly even just slightly behind you.

I much prefer the second one. For this one, turn your head slightly more towards the camera. There should be skin visible on the other side of the far eye in order to complete the eye. I'd again move the light more to your right, but only slightly more.

Because the ears are off and, since I can only stand to wear makeup for a little while, the face has been washed :)

I will try again tomorrow (read today) with all of the comments/critiques here in mind and try not to look like a total loser ;)
