I'm lazy and don't feel like searching :)
Please, what kind of tree is this? I know the bird is a rainbow lorikeet. Thanks in advance, guys!

Oh, this was taken in Sydney, from our hotel room. The tree was about 5m tall, I think.

Looks like a Coral Tree: botanical name: Erythrina x sykesii family: FABOIDEA.
Bit hard to tell but you would know if it has heaps of large thorns on the branches and trunk.

I don't think it had thorns, but I didn't search for them, either. I'll see if I have a shot that gives a better general view. |

This is the best I could find. I'd say more than 5m, since you can see the flat roof of the carwash through it, and definite tree, rather than bush. The lorikeets absolutely loved it, spending all day collecting from every blossom.
And keegbow, thanks! :D

I'm pretty sure that is a coral tree and yes lorikeets love it. I can always remember trying to climb one as a kid and getting some huge thorns from the trunk which was very painful.

Wow, now I wish I'd taken a closer look! The leaves and flowers looked so soft that I assumed the rest of the tree was as innocuous :) |

It's not necessarily a native Australian tree, but i don't know what it is. |

I think it's the variety that they call the "cockspur" coral tree?
Erythrina crista-galli
Apparently it's native to S. America.
