Hey I was just wondering what you guys thought of this photo! =)

I do like the post processing on the person but I dont like how the background overlaps the subject around the edges. It looks messy, like someone who colours outside the lines. I think it would look better if you saw the edge around the subject.

I would be intersted on the post porcessing on the face if you have time to elaborate.

Hi. Well lets see, nothing that i'm sure the PS experts on this site couldn't do alot easier but here is my workflow.

USM on total image
Channel mixer layer converted to monochrome
eyes cut out and USM more and levels with enhance per channel contrast
two curves layers one with an s curve. Both curves layers have layer mask
Then a levels layers brought in the highlights quite alot with a mask to allow to highlight the face where I wanted (like the eyes)

Does that help?

curve layers had opposite selections in the mask. One of april and one of the back area....

Would you mind posting the original?

April had such a nice expression and i wanted to use the photo which is what started me down this road. but as you can see the background is less than desireable...

I think it looks like an older shot. Was just at the In-laws and they have have a few shots that look like this but in sepia tone. Very pleasant to look at. left a comment also on the picture. I also like the shot of the two girls together.

My wife and I both like high key images. We have found that our daughters complexion works really well in high key where our sons does not. But we also know that alot of people dont much care for them as ours dont really score well in challenges. But they sure do look sweet framed.

I took a shot at your image, but not really super pleased with my end product.

interesting Tim. I like the darker look on the eyes and hair also. I suppose there are a thousand ways to do every photo. Thank you for the editing you did. Copying it to have a look at later in PS!
