Click the little "world" button then put in the address, then it'll let you type a word if you wish, like "Link".
Thanks everyone for your kindness regarding Siron. Unfortunately the outlook is not good. I took her in first thing this morning. She was not noticabley jondiced yesterday but is today. So she has liver problems. Best case scenario is that it is "fatty liver disease" or something else that is treatable with fluids and anti-biotics.
She will be in hospital over the weekend and the nice Dr. said she would do things step by step so as not to run up the bill. So first they are going to do blood work and exrays and put her on an iv and get her properly hydrated. If she does not start eating then she gets anti-biotics in the drip. Then it gets worse from there.
It broke my heart to hang on to my dear kitty, who is only 7 years old, and have to tell the Dr. that I likely cannot go over $1000. for her treatment. How can you look into those beautiful eyes and put a price on her unconditional love?
Please keep her in your thoughts, she needs all the help she can get right now. :( :(
Ernie, I am so sorry about Siron...do keep us posted...and I know it may have to come down to making the tough choice but if you have to I know you'll make the right decision.
*HUGS*

PS tell Siron Druli's got a big-ass stash of catnip, if she would like some we'll send it on! |

Deb - So sorry to hear about your sister. She'll be in my thoughts for a speedy recovery. It's really a shame you can't communicate better with her since that at least would make you feel better.
Ernie - Hope all is well with your kitty.
Ummm, somebody have a good trip! I know I read it, but can't for the life of me remember who it was... lol
Did I miss anyone else? |

Deb, somehow I missed the post about your sister. My thoughts are with you! It sounds very scary, and I know you wish you weren't so far away, literally on the other side of the world.
Ernie, please keep us posted on Siron. I feel really bad for you. Hopefully she'll pull through!
And Kelli, thanks, I'm also going on a trip, to Yellowstone Park. |

Greets, guys. There's a nice young man I met in Kuwait, now in Iraq, who, bless his little heart, just bought a Nikon D40X. I told him this is a good group of folks and if he has questions, you'd all be more than willing to help him. So if he stops by (I told him he should) be nice! :-) His username is Uber93eK; real name is Zach, and he writes really really good stories. |

Deb, I am hoping you receive good news from your sister.
Ernie, A wish for bright eyes greeting you this morning from your furry family member.
Safe journey to all that are traveling.
Catherine, might I suggest you beg, borrow, or rent a good long lens, not taking away from what you have, âbutâ. If your guide has any skill at all, you should easily see Deer, Elk, Moose and Bison, with a little luck a Coyote, Eagle, and a Bear, with a lot of luck a possible Wolf, and if the stars line up perfectly a Cougar.
Well now that it has taken about 2 hours to write this, because I am servant to my wife who is bedridden because of foot surgery yesterday, I better grab a nap as she is now in a drug induced sleep. Wishing everybody a happy holidays..
Alan

Hi everybody. Thanks for all the kind wishes for Siron.
I brought her home just now. They have topped up her fluids (like a really expensive jiffy lube) and started her on her meds. There was really nothing more they could do for her there, so I brought her home. She has 3 different medications to be given, so hopefully one of them grabs hold and does the job. Of course there is a very good chance it is actually a tumour. :( I have to try and get her to eat somehow...so that is my goal right now, to get her eating. I bought her favourite soft food that she sometimes gets as a treat, and because she can smell it (unlike her normal dry food) I am hoping against hope that maybe she will start eating it.
Please keep your fingers crossed for her. How she responds in the next couple days will likely mean the difference between whether she makes it or not.
thanks again to everyone.
Ernie and Siron.

Hey guys!
Oh my, I've been away for so long that everyone went off to a new thread...
Anyway, I'm back now. And the Galapagos islands were amazing :D
(I have many pictures to sort through over Christmas)
And here's another kitty cat for the oasis :)

Hang in there, Ernie. I hope you and Siron pull through this.
Catherine, if you're not already gone, let me just say how jealous I am. Enjoy!
Uber93eK, welcome to DPC!
And meyers, I finally paid off my debt to society and commented on everything in Fairy Tale and Alone in the Crowd (plus a few others). I'm amazed at how many Team Suckers did The Little Match Girl. I wonder whether that's more than coincidence. Could Team Suck itself connect well to the mix of tragedy and fantasy, the ability to see beauty despite horrible circumstances?

I didn't enter the challenge, but the shots I took for the fairy tale challenge were for "Little Match Girl" too. My oldest son was my match girl.

I finally figured out what raish was talking about re: the corinthian DQ of his poem that I favored. He's an old friend from the poetry boards, and I did not realize it. Peter's an EXTREMELY accomplished poet, though (like me) he seems to be on hiatus from wordsmithing right now.
So I'm glad I'm on that team; we may suck as photographers but we, by gawd, have the poetry title locked up :-)

Yay, we've got all the coolest people now :) |

Not sure our fearless leader and spouse will accept that too readily, except of course for their natural good grace :-)
Great news on your back, Rosemary. Don't rush a thing - there aren't that many get out of jail free cards to go round :-)
I think I'll probably be in for perspective... |
