You may have seen these two recent photos of mine
[thumb]624560[/thumb][thumb]622006[/thumb]
but you haven't scene how they were made and the stuff that goes on off camera, until now.
Check out Behind the Scenes with Christa on YouTube.
Keep in mind I'm no video producer, just thought it'd be fun show you guys what it looks like when I'm doing my thing.

Nice video, Leroy! The first thing I noticed was the relationship you had with the model (Christa?). Can only come from mutual respect and friendliness. She took instructions/directions/guidings extremely easily with no questions. Great rapport.
I liked your setup and I have not been a big fan of grey backdrops in the past. Works great here!
Wish I lived closer because I would love to be there to experience a shoot with you in command. Not because of the scantily clad lady either. I would like to witness you at work on even a fast grab shoot of a rolling pomegranate!
Good job! And thank Christa for me too. The image you have titled "Christa" is one of the best sensual shots I have seen in a long while. She has a magnificent face. Yes...I AM an 'eye' man!!

Thank you much Mike, I really appreciate it. I'll tell Christa (actually Christine, but we call her Christa) that you said thanks too.
BTW, here is a semi-candid I popped off while the makeup artist, Courtney was dealing with ashy legs :-)

Thank you for making/posting that video... love your choice of models... she is lovely... the shot of her in jeans is great... it helps me to see someone actually directing the shoot.. I would really like to see more video shoots showing the placement of lights etc. Thanks again Leroy. |

If I can find a camera operator, I will see if I can make that happen. I've actually thought about it, just haven't gotten to it.
And thank you. I think she's beautiful too!

ROFL! Speaking of that, you have to be careful about which transitions to use and when. I did a doubletake and had to rewind when I saw this:
Fades are safest! :) |

Nice to see you at work!
I can't really say i heard you directing her a lot. Maybe a new thing to focus on? I had the idea she didn't really knew what she had to do.
Love the closeup of her face!

Thanks Han, unfortunately, most of the conversations would have left the viewer staring at a grey background and are not understandable.
As you can tell the fan was quite loud. It's what they call a squirrel cage (a blower motor from a central air conditioning unit). It's quite powerful and pretty directional, but quite loud.
So yeah, most of the conversation was off-camera and inaudible. Things like telling her which was the key light and how I wanted her to interact with it, what types of poses to go through, what lens was for tight shots, etc.
I work with Christa quite a bit, so I know her repertoire and what she is comfortable with. So, I tend not to lock her down by micromanaging her poses, unless I want to tweak a pose she is already in. She's pretty good at reading my facial expressions too and will change accordingly.
I'm not so lucky with every model. :-D

Definitely... I have built of a small selection of models that I work with quite often. I still shoot with new model, but if I like one, I will definitely contact her again.

right. but the photographic click has to be there. you can work multiple times with different models, but if you don't have a click, it doesn't work.

Nice. Not sure what the background noise is (it's kind of irritating, almost sounds like an air wrench). But I just had to rewind to the cheese shot...

EDIT: I guess I was hearing the fan. *grin*
