I have no idea when it comes to lighting and was just wondering if anyone knows how people achieve the type of stuff below and what equipment they use to do it. BTW, if I've posted this in the wrong forum I'm sorry, I wasn't quite sure which one would be the most apt for it.

Well, the second two are using off-camera flash techniques, as detailed by Strobist
