To get to the brass tacks...should only a persons competition quality work be placed into their dpc portfolio? The reason I ask this is that I don't sense dpc as a place for causal photo viewing.
Your thoughts please!

You paid for the space, use it as you like. Lots of people upload shots every day here just to share them. Not everything goes into a challenge. |

What do you mean by "casual photo viewing"? Is there such a thing as "formal photo viewing" and should I wear a jacket and tie or is this a tails event?

What should be placed on DPC?
Your worst work, for critique.
Your best work, for critique and (hopefully) praise.
Anything you want to share, for any reason (provided it falls within posting guidelines).
What's most important is that you have fun, and enjoy learning about photography. |

I put everything up here. I use it to share with friends and family. Now that DPC has the "next" feature when viewing within a folder in your portfolio, it's even easier to use as a place to share pictures. And who knows - sometimes you even get comments on some of them! |

Gawd, if only "competition quality" work were to be posted here, I'd have to remove 95% of my images. Heck, even 80% of my ENTRIES are not "competition quality" :-)

I'm assuming you meant "casual" viewing instead of "causal" viewing.
In which case, perhaps it is. I suspect that everyone who visits dpc to view pictures has a different reason. Some may be studying them, others may just like look at them, still others may be seeking inspiration. |

We are in serious business here. This is not "Picture viewing" website... It's a challenge website. Serious business. This ain't anyone's "family album"

And if you'd like comments or suggestions on anything, put it here - it's easier for users here to comment without going to another site or location to sign in again.
With all due respect to FocusPoint, it's not all serious business to some of us. It's our hobby and our passion - and we tend to like to share. :-) |

Perhaps for you, Leo, and that's fine. It's also more or less my approach. But not everyone feels that way.
As routerguy and others say, Louis, you own the space, so do what you like.
When I have bunches of snaps to share w/friends and family, I put them on Shutterfly. Most of what I put here is my best stuff. That's not 100% the case, but close. But that goes far beyond challenge entries.

Is this guy looks like joking? I don't think he is having fun at all. he put that hat for a contest, he won and moved on...
Can't you see this guy's suffering from his face. Do you think it's nice to get stung on the nose... Poor guy.
People like you make us wonder... like this guy, surprised, shocked... Now i am worry about him.
Jokes are not tolerated in this website. No sir... not at all.
So, if you want to look at pictures, there must be some place else... stop bothering us, we have work to do :/
