Here is my problem. I use a levels adjustment layer to brighten one part of the image. Then I paint in the mask so that only the part I want brightened is brightened. Simple enough.
But then I use another layer to darken the rest of the image. I know that by pushing Alt then clicking and dragging the mask to the new layer it will copy the mask. But what I want to do is inverse that mask so that the part of the image I just brightened becomes masked....am I making sense?
I am sure the geniuses at Adobe planned for this, but I can't figure out how to inverse the mask.....
Anybody know how?
Thanks in advance!

| Make sure the mask you want to invert is selected and click Ctrl + I. That will invert the mask. |

That is just too awesome! Thank you. I couldn't figure it out no matter what I tried and to think it is that simple....go figure.
Thanks for the speedy reply!

| Make two masks one for each area. |

Ben
CTRL+click the mask that you want to duplicate to select it, The Inverse the selection by useing CRTL+SHIFT+I, Then on the menus choose LAYER> NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER> BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST> make sure you choose the box that says "use previous layer to create clipping mask" > Click OK and you should be good to go. |
