Whoa is me, I am such an A-hole!
Here's the story... I finally caved and ordered a p-r-o-fessional monitor calibration gizmo and lucky for me it was due to arrive just before the eBay challenge that I was jazzed to enter after a long hiatus.
Of course, Adorama restricts package pickups and I missed the delivery because, unfortunately, I have to work. :P Long story short- I missed the delivery and entered a horribly dark picture that coulda done well in the challenge... well at least better than it is now.
I have in my possession the Spyder2Express and did a run on it on my Vaio. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the profile to work. I am running Vista Home Premium on my 'puter.
Any ideas of what I can do?
thanks in advance!

Did you upgrade to the Vista driver? Also make sure Adobe Gamma is turned off when booting up your computer.
I use the Spyder2Express on a Vista Premium OS and it works fine with the new driver. I also use the same calibrator on a Window Xp computer and had to upgrade the driver also.

I have never run gamma on this 'puter and it is not in the startup. Lemme look into and I'll post back.

| You may have to manually assign the profile to your monitor. |

OMG! I cant figure this bastard out.
I just installed the new driver and ran the test and my monitor is still insanely bright.
What should I do?
Under color management the Spyder icm is set as the default profile. Dunno what else to do?

| Did you have your desk top light on and close to your monitor when you ran the test ? |

With my continuing idiocy, nothing's a silly question.
I believe I did. You mean reset to defaults right? I believe I went into the display in vista control panel and just hit the button. Is there another way?

How do I disable Adobe Gamma on a PC?
Remove the Adobe Gamma icon from your Startup folder. This can be done by right-clicking on the Start button > go to Open or Open All Users > double-click PROGRAMS > double-click STARTUP. Right-click on Adobe Gamma or Adobe Gamma Loader.exe and delete. |

I've never run adobe gamma on my computer and I double checked the start up folder.
I read thru the knowledge base and I can't seem to figure things out.
Hey, thanks so much for all your posts, BTW. :)

I have an LCD.
Nothing to disable I'm guessing as it is not in my startup folder.
