thanks. the primary in usa are always very interesting. this time will be very interesting see if there will be the first woman for the white house or if there will be obama(I think that other candidates are only for the contour). My personal opinion is that clinton will be the challenger, I see obama too gray but i don't leave in usa and I don't know the real situation. |

I'm not sure if this is ironic but it sure seems like a double standard â€Â¦

I don't. It makes perfectly good sense to me. She makes too much for a financial aid loan, so she can't afford college.
Financial aid loans have to be paid back.
Welfare does not. |

How much does tuition at a good state school cost these days anyway? I'd think there were lots of people attending that make less than $40,000 a year. Maybe I'm out of touch.
EDIT; I answered my own question. $19,000 at University of Maryland for in-state students plus $18,000 for room and board. That's spendy. So, ok, I agree with Chinabun's B)! That's about the only one I agree with though....

Does it really matter? I'm hard pressed to think of anybody that could clean up the mess this poopferbrain has created.

Put my vote down for Ron Paul too...I think he CAN WIN but I'd vote for him even if I didn't. All the rest of the candidates are pretty much identical anyway and I wouldn't want any of them in the office any more than King George.

The funny thing is that if everyone who isn't going to vote for him, because they don't think he could get elected, did vote for him, he would get elected. |

I hear that a lot, but the sentiment seems to be shifting as more people find out what he stands for, and what he realistically hopes to accomplish as president.
It saddens me when I step back and realize that the core values upon which this country was built are now considered radical.
Sure his ideas are shocking to a population that has learned to hand over their money, freedom and sense of personal responsibility to the government, but I think that's a good radical. |
No kidding. Paul has my vote, not that it will mean much.
As for the original question, Americans would vote for anybody so long as that person says they believe in Jesus and God. Everything else comes a distant second.

She makes too much money to get an subsidized student loan. She can get an unsubsidized loan just like the rest of us.
From Sallie Mae (provider of the Stafford student loans):
"Unsubsidized loans, are not need-based, and you are responsible for all of the interest that accrues on the loan, including while you are in school."
So she wants her education subsidized. Fine, me too. But there's still teh double standard issue.
A little context for the immigrant issue: Modern slavery in America. |

welfare is free, you dont pay it back. I cant get full finacial aid loans because I make too much money. How is that the same? I have to pay out of pocket to go to school for the rest that financial aid doesnt cover.

I'm OK with that, but who's going to pay for it?
Originally posted by Chinabun: B) give me FULL financial aid loans so I dont have to scrape to go to college just because I make more then 40,000/yr (cause the government dont take into consideration I have a mortgage and have to eat) |
It's your choice to have a mortgage. You could easily live in more affordable housing.
Originally posted by Chinabun: C) not tax me as high (because I have no children and get no cuts) |
I'm OK with that too, but it'll never happen. Why don't you repeal the AMT, soon enough, you'll likely get smacked with that one and if you think your taxes are high now, well...
Originally posted by Chinabun: D) lower my medical insurance (because i'm in the 30-40 range now so i'm about to die so rates went up) |
Are you suggesting government subsidized health care?
Originally posted by Chinabun: E) get rid of illegals who take our jobs (my best friend is about to lose her house because they fired her contractor husband and are paying illegals to do the job for half the cost)
AND! They should also fire the people who work in the immigration department when you call and inform them of the illegals (where they are, who they work for) and they never get back to you or act like they will do anything about it. |
Is your friend's husband a lettuce picker? a hotel maid? dishwasher?
Those are the predominant types of jobs held by illegals. Citizens would not do those kinds of jobs for, especially not for the wages they pay. Unless you're prepared for a ten-fold increase in the cost of agricultural products, you should re-think that.
I'm more concerned about technical jobs (and the expertise to perform them) being shipped overseas to Asia.
Originally posted by Chinabun: F) Get rid of letting "those people" start businesses and then hand the businesses off to their family members without having to pay taxes"
The average joe can have the hardest time starting a business. Makes business people not even want to be born here just so they can come over and reap the benefits of not paying taxes. |
Who are "those" people?
