I was doing a photoshoot just now where I then greenscreened a couple of shot´s and I need a backdrop, a New York city nighttime or dusk skyline, preferrably taken from a rooftop since the model is supposedly jumping with that backround behind her.
Something like this cartoon below is what I had in mind. Won´t use the image for anything but posting it on the web and printing out for the model and I will give full credit to the author of the backround photo, of course.
Can anyone help me out?

I might have a few more, if this type of angle works? |

unedited Raw files, sized to 640px
If you had posted earlier I could have gone up on my roof and gotten one with midtown in the bg...at dusk.

Maybe these would work. If yes, I can send you the full size shot.

Cool guys, didn´t expect so many replies :) I am looking at these shots and they are all good but after looking at the shot I took and your photos, the perspective needs to be pretty much straight on, it can´t be a shot looking down at the city and not too much up either. So far for this purpouse this shot is most closely matched to what I had in mind :)

I'm not sure how quickly you need a shot but I have two views that I can think of off hand, that I have access to from around the 20th floor(s) that are full of midtown roofs, eye level and buildings in the BG.
One, if it's a night shot, I can get at any time. If you need a shot taken at around dusk, by Friday the earliest.
Cheers! |

I've got lots I've taken from the Empire State Bldg., at 4092 MP, taken in 5/2005. I was intending to do some panorama shots arounfd the entire 360-degree view, at 3-rows., and at 2 diferent zoom-levels. I can't get to them till after work tonight. |

Great shot. Very good bodypainting too. Wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't told. I like the rest of the serie as well. (although I heard Superman is from Krypton, not from Reykjavik ;))

Man, that was a helluvalotta fun...
I'm totally digging the final version and I was glad to be of help. I had a blast looking for the different angles and the challenge of shooting that 10 minute window where there was still a dash of sunlight as the building lights start to come.
For anyone interested here's a link to the other rooftop shots that I took. A few were taken from the roof of my apartment looking towards midtown-west.
Cheers! Looking forward to the next round... |

Steve, I'd love to come to NY and do some shots with a new lens I bought. Let me know if you'd have time to show me around a bit. I'll be there next weekend for the MC show at Javittz
