I am focusing more on portraits these days, and wanted to start a topic where people can share thoughts/comments on each other's portrait shots. So, the idea here is to comment on the portrait above yours (or below, depending on how you're viewing the thread, and leave your latest portrait shot for the next person to do the same. With that, here is my wife. I bought a new lens the other day - a very basic Nikor 50mm with a 1.8 Ap. I love the results so far. Thanks, and have fun!

If you put too many different threads about the same thing in the same thread, it can get all jumbled together and loses focus. So some seperation between threads of the same subjuct can be good some times.

You should probably mention what you were going for so you aren't given a bunch of suggestions and comments and find out that that is exactly what you wanted. I can give what I think when I look at it, but that might not be what you are looking for. :D

I think she's great looking and very photogenic. You have created a very high contrast seperation between her face, cloths and background, which really lets her face stand out. Even though at first glance, some might say the face is over exposed, it does seem to work here. The only thing I think might be better is if you had a little more light on her cloths so you have some seperation between them and the background. The effect you have here gives her the floating head syndrome. But it's also possible that you lost some detail when you shrunk it for the site here and the full size image does show detail in the shadows of her cloths.

Nice job.
