indeed i was swayed by the 'tape' people & it worked very well initially
but the last time i did it i got a wad of adhesive stuck on my sensor

and since the universe is plotting against me - my last bottle of eclipes was empty .. had to phone around (Ont. residents: Vistek carries it .. Henrys does not) race out to purchase some...

& scrub scrub scrub .. 10+ pecpads later I'm pristine again..

alcohol at least takes of the gunk !!

Thank you for sharing that story.

Now please tell me EXACTLY what sort of tape you used, so I know which one to avoid should I ever decide to try out that technique.

Not all tapes are created equal. Scotch "Magic Tape" should leave no residue...

I was thinking about this method. However, it'd probably be a good idea to let the sensor cool down for a few hours before trying it. If the sensor is warm it might actually melt the glue and cause this problem.

People who put tape in their cameras and end up with residue on the sensor cover shouldnt be surprised. And I'm pretty sure admiting to actually doing it on the internet will get you nominated for some awards.

Try 3-M Blue Painter's Tape - it does not leave a residue.

You aren't really cleaning your sensor... unless you had the UV filter removed.

I've always figured that if the dust on my sensor is on there so good that it takes tape to get it off, it's probably not a job for me.
