just thought i'd mention this for the sake of FYI.
we have a couple pretty large/young/energetic dogs. both of us also work quite a bit, but yet still make a point to try to give them as much excercise as possible. during this time of year, however, it can be trying due to the short days and the cold weather.
we decided to try out a doggy daycare place to see if that might help with the excercise/socialization. today was their first day - and i'd say as far as energy goes - they are utterly lacking ;}
when i went to pick them up they seemed to be very happy. both to see me, but more so in the sense they liked where they had been hanging out.
so if you've never considered this - think about it. we are planning on using the service once weekly.
we did look at the options in the area and picked one that isn't as convenient as a couple others unfortunately, but has the best reputation, and also didn't mind taking larger breed dogs.
not sure about cost in other areas, but was surprised it was $15 each per day. seems pretty cheap to me considering.
ETA: as far as the convenience factor - if we wanted to splurge a bit more - they have a bus that will come and pick them in the AM and drop them off in the PM...

Dogs are social animals; makes sense to me that they'd enjoy this :D
Glad it's an all-round sucess and hope it continues to be so! |

I have a dog walker for my lab pup when we can't get home in the day to take her out. She benefits IMMENSELY from lots of exercise, so the walker, the dog park and a laser pointer are all our best friends! The reward is a lovely, docile and well behaved dog in the house who is a pleasure to be around. |
