Shortly after entering the November Free Study, I was kinda wishing I had gone with one of my outtakes:

Entry:

Outtake (I probably would have titled it "Smile, Darn It!"):

I got a few (deserved) comments about how the cat and my daughter weren't really interacting with each other, which is true. I was frankly just excited that I actually got a shot where both of them were looking in the general direction of the camera. I used a cat toy to get the attention of the cat (and my daughter, I suppose :)

Anyway... I'm just curious to hear thoughts about the outtake. In retrospect, I think I would have entered it because it tells a story.

I like the outtake better - more fun & lively & more animal-abusive. :P

Recommend a slight change in title though.

As often as I have used that word in regards to the cat ("Get off the counter, Dammit!" "That's MY ice cream, Dammit!"), we should have just named him Dammit.

Mark me as disappointed with the thread title. I had hoped to see actual Playmates in the post.

I knew someone was going to say that!

You actually did amazingly well, score-wise, for a straight, no-frills portrait in a FS. I much prefer the outtake, myself. I wonder how it would have done? Would have been worth an extra point on my score anyway :-)

Very true... I was pleasantly surprised it made it over a 6! It was really a last-minute idea for the sake of having *something* in the Free Study. I hate getting to the end of the month and realizing I haven't taken anything worthy of entering!
