Hi! Sorry if there is already a thread on this topic. I could use some professional advice and don't have a lot of time to make a decision.

I have a Nikon D70 and all the things necessary for it to use as my regular camera. I am looking for something smaller and pretty much idiot-proof to keep in my messenger bag that I have on me most of the time. I will still use my D70 as my primary camera, but have had situations where it would be nice to have a smaller camera for scrapbook type moments where a big setup is cumbersome or when I don't have my Nikon (such as at the Pediatrician's office or impromptu trip to the park.) I am currently carrying around a geriatric Nikon Coolpix from 2003 that has been dropped in the wading pool a couple of times. While it still takes decent photos for an older camera, it has issues with the electrical system and the battery door is taped shut!

I got a STEAL on a NIB Fuji Finepix s700 today- less than $100. It is a little on the large end for what I would like, but am willing to deal with that since I paid so little for it. I have piddled around with some of the very basic features and have not been terribly impressed so far. Keep in mind I have not waded through the manual or shot hours of photos with it, I have only had it a couple of hours. I need to make a decision in the next 24 hours so I can return it without any issues if need be and look for something else if it will not fit my needs. (I lucked upon this camera with NO research, had to jump while the price was right.)

I will be using it for a lot of indoor shots with variable lighting conditions, outdoor shots and shots with young kids. Not so much worried about the movie features or anything fancy. I take a lot of photos for my son's scrapbook and would like to walk into the bowling alley or birthday parties without looking like I'm on a photo safari! I'd also like to be able to hand it off to someone else to snap a shot without having to do a tutorial first.

Anyone else have this camera or experiece with it? Any other suggestions for the $100-$200 range (the lower the better truthfully). I have read a lot of reviews of the fuji- which are so so from the pros but great from users, but am just not sure what else is out there to suit my general needs. I am attracted to the longer zoom on this camera, but it is not a necessity since we have lenses for that with our Nikons.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Here are some choices that I found off Circuit City...

HP Photosmart

Samsung L73

and the page with the top cameras under 200 bucks is: This

The Canon Powershots are good as well.

All the best,

My Nikon L6 is pretty small and takes good shots. Not a lot of manual controls, however. The L11 is the current model equivalent and I have seen it selling for between $100-$130.

I saw circuit city had that Fuji S700 advertised for $109 on Sunday, but it turned out to be a typo that they would not honor. I was going to grab it as a birthday gift for my daughter at that price. I was not thrilled with the image quality of mine, and exchanged it for my S5, but for the right usage it is a wonderful camera. Where did you find one NIB for under 100?
