anyone have any thoughts on a shutter speed that will give me a nice-but-not-too-much-blur on a moving car using this camera and this lens?

That would depend on how much light there is. Put the camera in shutter priority and try what you think then move up or down from there.... |

It would also depend on the speed of the car... You have to experiment. Or do the math. ;) |

It really depends on the speed of the subject. In the above photo, the bike was going around a curve in the track at about 60mph. My shutter was 1/250th for that shot.
