So I see in tutorials there are some quick keys for changing brush size... anyone know what they are? or any other good quick keys?

for brush size i think it's "<," and "<."
you can always go to "edit->keyboard shortcuts" to manage your own shortcuts for several adjustments, i have them for curves, selctive color, add grain, gaussian blur, make new layer via copy, merge layers, save for web,...just to name a few.

The brush size is [ for down and ] for up. |

yea, thats right except { is up and ] is down I think...Doing it in my head here.

Mine has always worked by [ = down and ] = up. If you hold shift and { nothing happens much, just a couple of down sizes and nothing??? |

I always right click & the brush box pops up, them mouse wheel or slide for size (depends on how much change is needed)

That is because you are adjusting the softness/hardness of the brush when holding down shift. |
