I think its strange that people are saying self portraits have to be in perfect focus and your face has to be lighted. I think a self portrait was supposed to show some aspect of how you see yourself. To me the ones that have normal light and are just a pretty picture of a person are the least creative (i guess that's how people see themselves). The ones that really tried something new are the exciting ones. Artists who paint have abstract self portraits, why can't photographers?
I don't really care about the scores for this one... or any for that matter. Because conforming to what everyone else likes is what it takes to win. I just take the challenges for my own fun.
but just since everyone else does it..

This is so true about mine. Not my best as far technical terms , sharpness or composition. But I did it for fun :)

I don't know many people, so I'm not recognizing many. Did spot Judi however but that's easy ;-)
and I recognized 1 guy from seeing his face, but can't get the link to which user he is.
I know I've been recognized, but I've been bombarding DPC with SP's so that's not that hard to do :-P |

True, but just because a picture has bad lighting and is out of focus doesn't make it a dynamic interesting creative self portrait either...I found a couple that were so out blurry/high contrast you couldn't see hte person's face or anything, but had amazing composition and were clearly expressing some kind of feeling or personality trait of the person, excellent self portraits, but i am also seeing snapshots type pictures of a sad face that are out of focus and don't have good composition or lighting and seem more like something you would post on myspace or something.
Just my imput.... |
