It is an excellent camera and you will not be disappointed. It takes great macros, and I have gotten good shots (both focus and exposure) in a pitch black room!! I am about to pack mine up and ship it to my brother in Germany (I recently upgraded to DSLR). Have fun with it!

As a new owner to a 717, I can tell you that the images are considerable better than my Sony 4.1 MP. Hope you shopped a bit on it and didn't pay the standar Sony price of $799... |

Congratulations. My '707 has served me well for nearly two years. I'm saving to upgrade to a DSLR, but I will keep the Sony for its compact form factor and infrared capability.
Have fun with your new toy.

I just got one also (days ago), and I've just uploaded a couple of my first shots with it. As far as professional-consumer camera's I am extremly happy so far.
I just can't wait for my 3X lens and filters to show up via Fed-Ex tomorrow!!!!
I researched for a long time and was pretty happy with my choice, especialy since I got it for such a steal!!!

What type/brand of lens did you buy, and where? I can't bring myself to pay the $250 Sony wants for their 2x, but I want a telephoto lens badly.

I'm getting this following lens!
I don't know how good it will be, but it was way cheaper... I got mine from a place called 47st Photo from Ebay... I also got some filters from them and an extended battery! |
