How about shots taken at 640x480 with either a cameraphone or one of those $20 kids cameras, the kind that usually have Spiderman or X-men decorations on them? It would be a real test of photogrphic skill and prove that photography is more about talent and a good eye than expensive equipment. |

Nice suggestion! - I can see one issue though, some of the latest cameraphones are probably better than most low-end P&S camera. Like the Nokia N95 for example. |

I like it! My Nokia N73 is pretty handy, 3.2MP and Carl Zeiss optics. Should be fun! |

That was why I suggested 640x480. My own phone can do 1.3 MP, but using the lowest common denominator levels the field for this idea. I can change the settings on my phone for a lower res. |

Is EXIF data to verify date required? |

Hi.
This idea ranks right up there with a point and shoot only challenge.
Thanks |

I suppose this rule would have to be relaxed, I just opened up a phone shot in PSP, and there is no EXIF data. Would the honor system work for this?
I just took this cellphone shot of some stuff on my desk, and did a quick edit within basic editing rules.

It presents some challenges, but I think could still result in some interesting stuff. I'll bet some folks here could readily turn the drawbacks into creative effects.

Maybe another idea for this challenge could be a 24hr or 48hr speed challenge. Either way this would be a blast; bring it on!!

I have a couple sunset shots I got with my camera phone that I'm very pleased with - and getting them into GIMP isn't a problem.
I agree with routerguy, though - that would be like restricting a challenge to SLRs, Film, or P&S only. It might be a fun challenge to EMULATE a cell phone pic, though. |

Not bad for a camera phone in a free study, I think :-D
