The Oregon coast has a whopper last night with gusts to 100mph and one extraordiary gust to 129mph. Sadly, the nations tallest Sitka spruce, after surviving last year's brutal winter storm snapped about 75 feet up.
Would have been fun to experience though.
This was shot in Astoria in about 50 MPH winds almost exactly a year ago.
Story about storm and sitka spruce here.

I was tempted to go there this morning, just to witness the fury. However, my more pratical side kept me at home. |

And now Seattle is getting hit with heavy rains, melting snow, and lots of flooding! The Roflmao Estate is dripping from the top and seeping from the bottom. :(
I am readying the camera gear for when the wind strikes and the trees inevitably start falling. How about a speed challenge: "Fallen" or "Crushed" or "Saturation"? |

Ya, we have had rain, rain, and more rain. I bet Multnomah is looking like this right about now:

Tell me again, what is this "rain" you speak of?

Karma, if you like I'm sure all us "wet coasters" can send you more than you want!
We didn't get the winds, but it POURED all night. At least it didn't take long to wash away the bit of snow.
Sigh.... already getting hard to remember that just a few days ago I was swimming in the Aussie ocean... :( |

Yes, I hear Atlanta is building a Thunderdome and Mel Gibson is putting together automobiles out of scrap metal to fight over Lake Lanier.

Interestingly enough Portland's annual rainfall at 36" is about the same as Atlanta's drought year (low 30s)...

Wow, and Victoria's is only 26.2! I guess the months of grey skies just make it SEEM a lot more. |

Well, we get it all spread out. Portland has an average of 151 days of rain. Atlanta...115. It's probably why they need more rain to sustain the population (besides the fact there are more people to start with). More of it comes in less time so you lose a lot to runoff.
