Oh and I'm not sure if you guys know Dad has a touch of the Ahlzheimer's bug. So I hurry on to Michigan to be with him. And this is what I was graced with ...
I walk by and he says to my mother (obviously loud enough for me and everyone else to hear) "Damn she's got a fat ass, I bet she weighs 250."
Loving relatives, smile, it could be worse, right?

Awww big HUGS Jeanne. All the travelling, and your dad's health. I hope you find some moments of peace and quiet for yourself. Are you back in Michigan again then?

More big HUGS!

Yes......worse than you can possibly imagine.

I am going through Alzheimer's/Dementia/Psychosis right now with Lisa's mother.

She effectively ran Lisa out from being so cruel and poisonous, she has had two lawyers in to see about sueing us for taking all her money, she is constantly railing at me because she doesn't want to be in the facility she's in (the one they picked), she rails about the money management, yet she had her finances pulled a year ago for leaving credit cards and checkbooks, EVERYWHERE, she asks about her car, and then screams at me when I tell her we sold it, asks why we haven't had the guts to tell her, to which I reply, well, this is now the eleventeenth time I've had the guts to tell you, she refuses to accept that she flunked her cognitive function test and isn't allowed to drive, she thinks it's 2011, she wants to go to the bank, the one that's been gone for 11 years.......it's both maddeningly frustrating, really sad, and heartbreaking to see the wonderful woman who's been my Mom for the last 28 years turned into this paranoid, raving, confused, scared, totally clueless psycho.

This all came to a head when Lisa's Dad died mid-August under strange circumstances after injuries at home that left him unconscious. He had managed to hide most of her aberrant behavior from everyone instead of seeking help and moving into the assisted living facility a year ago like they should have done.

I have to keep going back because all too soon she won't recognize me at all. There are short glimpses.....I savor them, but they don't last.

It's the most horrible thing I've had to do in my life.

I go back again and again because I love her, and I'm the only one who can take it.

I kind of lost my job over the time off that I had to take to bury her dad and get her mom moved, and I haven't been able to find a job since.

And if it doesn't suck enough to be me right now, I just wrecked my new car with 6000 miles on it and I have $500 deductible.

At this rate, I can't even afford one of the calendars I helped with.....life is not good right now for me.

Jeb, that's a true nightmare. I'm sorry you and Lisa have to go through this. I wish you could wake up and have it over.

You're a good man, Jeb. I'm sure that Lisa's parents have appreciated the wondeful son-in-law they have. I'm hoping that you still get to see that in the glimpses that you get. :)

Hey, did you give us a recent update on your physical condition with your leg and all? Did I miss it?

I remember last you saying that you were done, or near done, with PT......I think.

I'm glad that I wasn't drinking anything when I read this......I hate it when stuff flies out of my nose, I'm coughing and gasping for air, and I have to hang my keyboard upside down to dry it out.

I almost choked anyway laughing so hard!

Someone was just telling me recently that they had gone through a series of traveling by plane and after a half dozen or so awful experiences, he said that the last time, he went to the ticket counter and asked if he could get a ticket from Dulles to London, but he'd like his luggage to go to Toronto via Houston.

He said the ticket clerk looked at him funny and said that he couldn't do that.

He said that the clerk got kind of indignant when he said to him, "Why not? You did it the last time when I didn't want you to!".

Okay......so if there wasn't enough nuisance in my life right now.....for some dumb reason, I have six pictures I can't decide among for my monthly mid-5 Free Study offering.....and that's it in reality. I don't think there's a really good one in the lot as far as FS material.....weird thing is, I basically like them all just fine, I'm finished with what editing I want to do to them. Is there anyone who is NOT planning on entering the FS that might wanna take a gander?

Jeanne, hang in there. Just try to remember that's not your Dad talking anymore, it's someone else (at least when he's acting that way). My sympathies over your travel woes, too! Reminds me of one time when, en route from Atlanta to NYC while in college, there was major fog shrouding the entire area. We circled for an hour, then all landed suddenly. The flight attendant came on and said "Welcome to ... please remain seated as we taxi to the gate in ..." We were all laughing. She literally didn't know where we'd landed because the pilots hadn't had a chance to tell the crew. :)

Jeb, as others have said, you have a heart of gold.

I hope the rest of you had grand Thanksgivings (or, at least grand late-November weeks if you're not an Ammurican). I spent a wonderful week playing with my five nieces and nephews, ages 1 month - 3 1/2.

Reading recent posts, are now punishing high scores? I'm safe in Where's Drewmedia with a 5.5, but guess I'll admit to having a problem in Alone in a Crowd 6.2 with 13 comments. Do 3 DNMC comments get me any mercy? How about a validation request (which I love - I baffled somebody!)?

A 6.2?? We will have to get you one of those new camera straps Raish is manufacturing....with the spikey thing!

My Drew is hanging in at 5.6, a nice highside "suckish" score. ;)

No punishment, Jeffrey. Just keep your distance and don't breathe on us. We don't want to catch your sixness...

Wow, somebody liked my Alone shot. It went all the way from 4.61 to 4.64 in one vote. I'm going to bed with sweet dreams of appreciation. See y'all tomorrow. ;P

*grin* Did I mention it's a shot you'll hate, Don?

Add another DNMC comment, this one from a TSer.

Well, I just finished voting on "Alone", and commented on as many as I could. (likely that dnmc for levy...lol)

there are lots of great, well seen shots, and lots of shots that are nice but dnmc, then lots that are just shoehorns. Overall pretty good stuff though. (although I am hungry after all those candies...)

Greets, folks. Internet in the pod isn't there any more. Don't know where it went, but it ain't where it was! Don't know when or if it's coming back either.

Jeanne, hang in there. And rest assured that your luggage will have a far more interesting and comfortable journey. It will eventually arrive well-rested and with great stories to tell, if only it could tell stories.

Jeb, dear, PM me your snail mail address and the link to purchase a calendar - I will have one sent your way. :-)

I had a couple of choices for Free Study - one I really like so I won't enter it. :-) Another I like, too, but not as much, so that one is in. I'll eventually get around to sticking the one I like in my portfolio...

This is why I love it here.

A few kind words make all the difference when they come from good people.

I vent 'cuase I'm one of those people who'll get an ulcer if I don't.

The thought of you being so cconcerned for me when you're where you are just makes me realize how lucky I am that the extent of my troubles is my mother-in-law bitching at me and finding the deductible for some bent metal.

You guys have no clue how much you all mean to me.......scratch that, yeah, you do!

Thanx ever so much.

(((HUGS!!!)))

P.S. LeRoy already said he'd send a calendar for me and Adrienne.......8>)

Got me a nice little 5.5 in Alone. Woo hoo! Entered SP6. I have no idea why. Probably because I got a shot where I'm in focus. That alone is a major accomplishment in my book. Not that I have a book, but you know what I mean. The entry will not compete well with all the beautiful people we have here, but I entered it just the same. Someone has to represent the middle-aged not-so-gorgeous crowd.

Well, I'm glad it's you and not me. I wouldn't do it again for anything, lol!

I'm actually about doing that.

So I'll represent the *fat* middle-aged not-so-gorgeous crowd! LOL!!!

I'm going with 52 still being middle-aged 'cause I wanna live long enough to be a blight on my kid!

I know, I already am since she's 12!

Ugh - My face hurts today, and I'm talking funny.

On Monday night, I broke one of my molars while eating a chocolate-covered cranberry. Last night I went in to my dentist, only to find that it was not fixable, and had it pulled right then and there.

Advil and Gravol got me through the night last night, but with 3 little kids to care for, I cannot sleep the day away today. I wish I could.

OWWWWW! Poor Lea! I once cracked a molar biting on a popcorn kernel and the pain was just blinding. Had to get a root canal, crown etc, so maybe having it pulled is best of all. At least you can amuse the kids with the talking funny part :-)

Can you get any Ty3s?

I've got a mini-medical drama of my own right now...turns out I likely have hypothroidism, so am going for an MRI in Jan. Don't know what caused it but did start to eliminate table salt from my diet about 2 yrs ago, and that stuff is iodized. Also, over the years I've often been the person holding x-ray plates while vets take shots of horse's legs, hooves etc and the lead apron didn't have a full neckpiece...so it maybe got nuked! Oh the fun!

They offered Ty3's - but I'm nursing 2 children (which puts codeine down low on the list of 'okay' drugs), and codeine makes me sick to my stomach, which is not good while trying to care for three children.

So - I'm making do with my Advil. It's feeling better today at least. Achey instead of painful.

Hypothyroidism is fairly common at least - I don't know the cause though, but I seem to hear of it quite frequently lately.

I put in for free study a picture I really like so I know it will tank :) I lurk everyday and read. I have no life. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. It's hard to believe that it is almost December and looking at the end of the year. I'm going in for back surgery either the end of December or the 1st of January they have to call me and let me know. Hopefully this will help and I'll be able to move better. You guys are the best!
