I need to create a proof cd for a bride and would like to do it in Photoshop CS. I know how to create the slideshow but what I do not know how to do is make the image file number show up on each photo without having to do each file manually? I know how to create actions in PS but would not know how to formulate a specific action to place the file name in the photo file.
Can anyone help me with this? |

There is software specifically for this of course - that will protect (in theory) you from image theft.
If the bride just uses the standard windows viewer it will show the file name with the image, or they can use thumbnails to see what's what.
You can print 'proof sheets' from within PS very easily and it will put the file name under each image, as many or few images per page as you want, and save each page as a 'file'. If you matched the file size to a standard screen size it would be easy to view and the images so small as ot be pointless to steal.
You could also sign up at an online site and post images there, watermarked of course. Some are free, some are not.

Thanks for the advice. I ordinarily use an online proofing site but this couple specifically asked for a proof cd to select their album photos from.
I don't think imaage theft will be an issue here as they have already paid for a high resolution cd which will be delivered with the wedding album.

I recently tried Image Chest. It packaged up the images inside of an executable so that they were protected but also provided a means for my customer to look at and order them.
I haven't decided if I feel it's worth the price yet so I haven't purchased it. But you might want to give it a try.

In photoshop/image ready you can create slideshows, they have a variety of templates and you can show filenames etc. |

Are you talking about the automated web photo gallery? I was just playing around with that today. Do you kow how to make it autoplay on the cd when they put it in rather than getting a list of files? |

Yep, thats what I am refering to. Looks like there are a lot of utils on the web to create the autorun.inf or allow you to autorun html/flash files.
I think some CD burning software will also do this for you.

Thanks...I'll read more about my cd burning software capabilities and check out the autorun on the web...I usually just use windows to burn and that's pretty much automatic. |

I have a photoshop Script file that will do this, though is is quite complicated and I am still trying to figure out how to change the size/colour/font/placement of the text. My experiments have been a bit hit and miss!
CS2&3 should have the scripting add-in built in, though earlier versions may need a download.
I found the download on the net, plus the current sscript that I am slowly modifying. |
