Wanna start next month?? ;) |
Was thinking more along the lines of right after the new year. |
I already asked Jojo about next year and she said that it might be a different charity that she tries to help out kind of like spreading the love :-}
But I'm up for it and I've aready had about 50 ladies contact me sence they heard that Sharon and Jim did this for me and I think once the press release goes out I'll hear from countless more. So I'll do it again and without the rush I think that I could do a lot better.

I definitely agree with doing another calendar... BUT, only if we do well enough with this one (or learn a LOT in the process & make needed improvements). I actually have another person that was interested in being a model, but the project was just too short notice for her.
I'm just sayin.....

As breast cancer is near and dear to me, I'd like to give it another shot for next year.
I'd be hesitant to gauge the results on this calendar simply because we started too late.
Anybody here *NOT* already have a couple 2008 calendars kicking around from some business or other?
I think they should be available as of about October 1 so as not to put a printer in a jam and to get a feel for how the orders will flow.
Just my opinion as someone who usually likes to NOT back himself into corners!
You must admit, it's been a tad dicey and only heroic efforts have gotten this together......IMO, some grace, too!.....8>)

I think if you ask everyone to shoot two people so there are options in terms of which shots to use and extras to fill in any gaps that come about that would be good. Also be firm on your initially posted deadline so you don't find yourself trying to pull together at the last minute what should have been available to you a week before. Also leave ample time for advertising (two to three weeks) and order taking before the initial print run.
Other than that it seems to have gone ok I thought...? What's been posted so far looks good. It will be easier to get orders with sample product in hand I think, so probably the second batch of orders will be sizable.

I think we made an impossible task possible. Everyone really stepped up to the plate. I think the photographs are fabulous and I can't wait to hang one on my wall. Even if we only raise $1.00, that is $1.00 they didn't have when we started. I think people will start seeing them hanging on their friends' walls and want one. I think us showing off our "proud parent" work will gain us a lot of sales as well. |

All I can say is - the work, dedication, drive and motivation you put behind getting together is well, beautimous! (hehe you left that word once on one of my photos and it's still stuck in my head)
Big high five to you Jojo for being the backbone of this project!

I, too, like the idea of other charitable work. Last summer one of my high school classmates died of brain cancer, in August that same year, a coworker died of lung cancer that had mastesized (however you spell it) to the brain. Two weeks ago, on of my college profs and father of one of my best friends died of brain cancer.
I may also do something local if y'all could help me come up with an idea. I had absolutely astounding response (way more than 12) from volunteers, and I hate to turn anyone away.
I was thinking of a coffeetable type book, poster or something.
As I stated earlier, this project stretched me way beyond I am comfortable going. BUT, i learned so much and enjoyed it so much, i would love to participate again! |

Do we know if the people who purchase the calendar recieve a charity reciept?? Just a question that was put out to me today, when I was talking up the calendar. How do we address this and has this come up with anyone else?
Thank you

It's nothing special, remembering that reporters like to report :-)

Local Photographer Teams Up For Breast Cancer
Local photographer, Leroy Dickson, has teamed up with 11 other photographers, from around the US and Australia, to produce a calendar celebrating life -- and a victory over breast cancer. Each month portrays a woman who has fought and overcome the adversities associated with the disease.
Leroy's model for the month of April is Carla Kyser, 29, from Grand Bay AL, along with her 14 month old daughter, Larsyn. Five years ago, Carla found a lump on her breast. While her cancer is not in remission, she still lives and cherishes life. When asked for am inspirational quote, Carla simply said, âStand strong in your faith.â
Leroy, from Mobile, AL, shoots wedding, portrait and stock advertising photography. He also is trying to push into the art world and hopes to arrange a gallery showing in the near future.
To read more stories about the wonderful women and men featured in the Calendar for the Cure and for more information about the calendar, you can log on to //calendarsforthecure.blogspot.com/. The calendars are $15 each, and you can order directly from the website. All proceeds from the calendar sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
