im doing some otdoor portraits tomorrow.. takeing my 18-55 and my 50mm 1.8 mainly going to use the 1.8 but if nessicary (for some odd reason) il ise the 18-55 any suggestions... or rules of thumb that i need to be remined of... for example.. avoid direct sunlight, dont always have the model looking into the camera directly, ect... just seeing if i cn get any last minute tips

I use my 70-200 f2.8 alot. Letts me getaway from the subject and get good depth of field.

Then let the back ground be further behind the subject so you can get good depth of field. I do not do a lot of portraits. I do several senior shoots all outside.

If this is an outside shoot watch the shadows!

Bring a reflector! anything white will do or crumple up tinfoil and tape it to cardboard.

why crumple? i took a 28 x 36 piece of posterboard and put tin foil shiny side up on in flat it works nicely...

I am doing a christmas photo shoot today of 4 kids!! ack!!
