I was watching the tv commercials during lunch today and saw one portraying a scientist holding up a beaker of colorful fluid, examining it's contents in the light. I thought what a sterotype that was and got to thinking about others. The used car salesman, the IRS agent turning in their own mom, etc.

Just a brainstorm. It may be just a light sprinkle, though. I dunno. What do you think?

Might want to limit it to professions only, there are other bad stereotypes that are not ethnic.

professional stereotypes might be an interesting challenge! Imagine a city worker who was laying down on the job? hehe

Anyway, I changed your thread title "ethnic" because I thought that was what you were getting at.

Call it "archetypes" and you remove a lot of the stigma...

archetypes would be cool too, but I like the idea of keeping professional stereotype. Ofcourse, I'd be willing to bet that if we were to have a Professions challenge, most would be stereotypical.

I was installing some equipment once and I was waiting with 3 other techncians in the customers break room for the machines to be delivered, long screwdrivers sticking out of our pockets. When someone asked, I jokingly explained that we were now unionized and this was our equivalent of the guys in the roadwork crew leaning on their shovels.

call it professional stereotype and someone will stretch the boundaries... most likely something I would do. like someone could do "professional gangster" "professional drug dealer" "professional murderer". It would just be a free study without the landscapes...

All of those are technically professions, you could get paid doing all of them.
