I was wondering does it make a difference whether you select jpeg artifact or reduce color noise when dealing with portraits? Just curious!

But

If You Look up NeatImage, the program is 1000000x better than PS when reducing noise =]

Actually, it's not necessarily true. The Reduce in CS2/3 is quite good.

To the OP:
Reduce Color Noise will help if there is color noise present. I don't usually see much color noise, but rather luminance noise (noise that is lighter/darker than surrounding pixels, but the same color). My 8700 did have lots of color noise at high ISO.

JPEG artifact will only help if you make a habit out of saving highly compressed JPGs. If you are working from a RAW file or a JPEG that is not highly compressed this option can actually deteriorate your image.

Basically, use these cures only if the condition exists.

I agree with Shirley. With Neat Image, you have more and finer control over the noise elimination process.
