You're in my thoughts Kelli.
Now here's my news. I made it thru my middle night for the class with bones in original pieces!! Part way thru the last day of class right now. And in a few hours I'll join in the DC mega traffic congestion on my way north. YEAH!!
Dad is in the hospital. Good news is that they expect to release him and no surgery. |

Hi all,
Sorry, I've been a bit AWAL, though I didn't expect to be. Just had the travels from, or perhaps through, hell (including a missed flight with an overnight stay, a cancelled next flight, rescheduled, arrived, no luggage, stayed, no luggage, returned (with less than an hour scheduled each for two separate international transfers, both times the plane being late, leaving me less than 15 minutes to doors closing each time), and now home, and my luggage . . . ??? Now where I was yesterday during the day). I wasn't checking the page too often through all of that (I was trying to convince airlines they should put me on airplanes)! I have some shots from my travels and such, but need to search for free study type shots before I post them.
The good of it was that my mission (secret though it is) was accomplished (with clothes borrowed from someone else who I had just met), and also that I met two soldiers, one back en route to Iraq, the other heading back to Afghanistan. Had excellent conversations with both, which eased the trip a bit.
So, tomorrow you all get to see my topless image (the one that sent me off the deep end last week), and I'm hoping to get around to commenting on some of the excellent TeamSuck images from duotones (thanks to everyone who commented on my sheep shot; I ended up liking that shot, even though I lost the Jeb race . . . Don, what's my punishment?).
Kelli, stress free, that's the way to be (how's that for a rhyme, Don?).
Deb, thought of you often while talking to the soldiers I met; keep staying safe, please, and please keep sharing your perspective (in words and in pictures).
Good news on both fronts, Jeanne! Yay!
Jeb, good news for you, too; keep getting those shots out there.
Peter, excellent but sadly telling story; thanks for the other links, Mr. Mascot; the things human beings do to themselves and other human beings . . . I have neither words nor images with any relevant value to that discussion.
Stay well,
Bruce

Spock says live long and prosper, Kelli. He's also relaxed, except when it isn't logical, because then he gets upset. You wouldn't worry about a little thing like that now would you? Good :-)
Constant and consistent thanks to you all for comments on my latest brown ribbon -
I honestly thought that it was a duotone: red and blue on the white (default paper) background with the subtractive colour combination of more or less complimentary pigments giving you something close to black. As Melethia so wisely observes - Originally posted by Melethia: And in digital processing, a duotone is an artificial contrivance anyway. | .
Of course, I could have paid just a little bit more attention to the challenge description, discussion in relevant threads and/or previous duotone challenges, but why let sensible behaviour stop me? In addition I was unwisely (?) inspired to blow the colour and contrast beyond the bounds of taste, which in my case was sliding gracelessly along the spectrum between Andy Warhol and a slot machine.
Now I've just entered something that I belatedly (although I don't seem to be withdrawing it) realise is not only out of the box but off the wall too. I'd better not say in what, in case it's a giveaway. Ah, me... |

Originally posted by Kelli: I won't get the test results back until the 30th. It was a weird experience though. It took 4 1/2 hours total. They blew out a vein on my right arm with their IV and had to put one on the left, so I have two bruised arms today. I do know that they think I'm a candidate for cardiac rehab (but I really don't know what that implies). So, I'll just try to stay stress free. |
Kelli, good luck with the test results. You mentioned cardiac rehab. My husband had a heart attack years ago, and he was prescribed cardiac rehab. It was a medically monitored exercise program. He loved it, and made a lot of good friends there. Basically it was a gym with normal workout equipment, and personal trainers. But the trainers were medically trained. After a while, he graduated to unmonitored workout sessions, but still at the rehab center. Insurance paid for the whole thing. |

Greetings from Qatar, where you have to "immigrate" when you arrive and "emigrate" when you leave... not sure what this does to my US citizenship... :-)
I got a "pass" to take pictures, but had to agree not to photograph "buildings, perimeters, guard towers, people, horizons, or Qatari structures." I will take pictures of sandbags - those were not prohibited. I don't think.... |

Ya know......I dunno what it is, 'cause it seems to me if the voters really like something about an entry, they overlook challenge details.
There is the blue and white thing here......definitely two distinct shades of blue, the scalloping in the faint trim above is black to me, and if you look carefully at the trim at the base of it where the smoothness of the center pillars come up, you can see the faintest traces of red. (A voter/commenter noticed the red, I had not!)
I was so afraid that I was going to get tagged DNMC for the black trim....go figure!
Anyway.......the heck with them all.....I liked your entry!

If it's the one I think it is, I think you're heading for a ribbon. Mind you, it's only a guess which is yours (for any SC reading this, lol). |

Well guys, I'm off on an unplanned trip tomorrow morning. My dad is in the hospital and its not sounding too good (fingers crossed that the tide will turn). He was supposed to be released today and instead he is now on a ventilator.
I'm off to Michigan in the very early morning. I will in all probability be without laptop. So until I return (which is still open) I will not be in touch.

Ah me, sigh, I have a 5.5 on my Stopped Motion with 8 comments -- all positive. I don't understand the scoring. In one incident, I got a 5 vote and a very positive comment at the same time. What are these voters saving those higher scores for? I love the picture, though, so I am really happy we had this challenge. |

I have nothing going right now, and it's because no challenges inspired me, so I didn't shoehorn anything.
I'm fine.......really.....fine......really......fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awww, Jeanne. I'll be thinking of you. I hope everything goes OK. Sometimes the vent is just a quick fix that goes quickly and lets the rest of the body heal faster. I know all about them (my grandfather was off and on it for years), so if you need someone to talk to pm me. |
