MAK, bear in mind its currently the yearly cull at Richmond Park, so if you are going for the deer then make sure you take a long lens as those buggers are scared of anything that walks on two legs at the moment. I've knocked Richmond Park on the head until the middle of December at the earliest for this very reason.
However I have heard you can get some high-quality venison at very good prices at the local Richmond butchers! Although since it is a Royal Park I daresay the Queen will be sampling some over the next few weeks.. Hell, she could even be chowing down on the deer in my Freestudy entry!!

My last stay in London I was right near Bushy Park, which of course pales to Richmond. There were hundreds of deer around the quick walk I took through but most were resting, laying in the shade at high noon. All of my picture were either overexposed or under somewhere in frame trying to get them in the shadows. I was way too fried from travel to get up and make the park the one morning that I had the opportunity. Next time for sure, I'm going to hit Richmond early in the AM. Have fun.

My best shot (most even exposure), while a cloud passed over head and one that I couldn't recover. Quite a boring set of shots . No mist, no breaking light, no drama. Note all the deer laying in the bg.
Here's a little culling information. I always wondered how they maintained the population.

Look forward to seeing the photos, good luck with the weather!
Surely you are not using the P&S camera but the Fuji one?

Even with all the Culling going on it was still a nice day out and we saw many Deer, the light was not brilliant but we did get a chance to spot the very rare Japanese Deer.
