In September, I travelled to Europe, and had a chance to stay alone in Munich. On a rainy day I took the train to Dachau. I took these pictures, hoping not to capture photographs that seemed maudlin or exploitive, but merely to communicate my impressions of this sad, sombre memorial. Only two have been in my portfolio a while, but I'd appreciate any comments anyone would like to make on the others. I'll return all comments. Thanks in advance. The collection.

Facinating yet haunting collection. The human presence in these photos are quite strong.

Ironically, my only trip to Dachau also came on a stormy day. In fact, we were a little concerned about walking around when lightning was in the area.

Thanks for sharing these. I visited Dachau about 10 years ago, and yes, a very moving place. You have taken some great photos, and some good stories to go along with them. My only criticism of the collection as a whole is that there are a lot of photos of doors and windows, and the play of light on walls with artistic composition. They are very good art photos, but some of the less artistic ones give a better sense of the place itself. I feel the final photo balances the two well, showing dramatic lighting and composition, but also including a scene sufficient to support the story, giving a better sense of being there. Just my 2c. :)
