I haven't really looked at the specs, but somebody just posted that LR 1.3 just came out and it solves this issue. Check out this thread.

No problem. There are now 2 SilkyPix users on DPC. I hope the UI and the weird English doesn't drive you mad. ;-)
Oh yeah, LR 1.3 is released, so you can start the evaluation process all over again if you like! (I know I have no intention of doing so, I've wasted enough time on this already) |

In lightroom there are no automatic settings like NR that you can't change to suit yourself and then save as the default.
I'm not an Adobe fanboy but LR is pretty good. I almost never use photoshop anymore except for images heading here. It would be nice if it preserved in camera settings, but if you shoot some raw+jpeg it doesn't take very long to mimic the look and save as a preset.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. It's a fairly hot topic over at Dyxum (I'm not alone in looking for a viable RAW solution for the A700). It's going to be a little while before LR 1.3 gets worked over to see if it really addressed the Sony A700 conversion issues...I need to get moving on something so I'll stick with SilkyPix for awhile.

I hear what you're saying. I like LR also. The last couple of images I put up here for challenges were nearly all processed in LR alone.
The issue with NR is how LR handles the Sony RAW files, even with LR NR set to 0 it was working them over on the backend before loading in the GUI. I can't speak for the exact technical details on it...it's been discussed pretty heavily in forums at Sony and at Dyxum.
Had I not seen the difference first-hand by comparing several images (using the same image, etc...) between LR and SP I'd probably still be on the LR bandwagon. MUCH more detail in the Sony RAW files loaded in SP vs LR.
Who knows, I may shift back at some point if it all works out, but I'm going to cheat and let others chew on it (test) for awhile. :-)

Maybe if you stopped sitting in the corner eating paste, then eventually when you're not eating paste you might stop posting in the wrong thread too.
