I don't think the 20" iMac uses the same display panel as the 20" Apple Cinema. Does anybody have an opinion on how they compare? Or does anybody know which panel is used in the iMac (i.e. is it a TN panel, or an IPS) |

I've used both the Apple Cinema displays and the iMacs. Though I have not compared them side by side, they're both stunningly beautiful. I know that doesn't help much. I own a 20" iMac and wouldn't part with it for anything. |

I knew I'd get replies from people who'd fallen in love with their Macs... :)
My old 17" LCD display attached to my 3yo PC has started playing up so I was looking at getting a new 'pro' quality display. As always when I start looking at hardware I inevitably end up at apple.com salivating over their flash adverts and movies. I was thinking of the 20" Apple Cinema display. Trouble is, it only has a DVI inputs. Which means I either get a VGA-DVI adapter, or buy a new graphics card for the PC.
But, putting a new graphics card in my 3yo PC isn't making much sense. Soooo... I said to myself for another €600 I could actually have a 20" iMac and run bootcamp/parallels for my windows apps when I need to.
I could always use the old PC as my external backup device :) |

I have no specs for you, but I can say this: my wife is using a 20-inch ACD. I'm on a white 20" iMac (matte/non glossy) screen. We exchange images which look the same on both displays - with one minor difference: the iMac appears slightly brighter.
The most recent glossy iMacs are, to my senses, a completely different experience: rich and saturated colours, and brighter even, more difficult to compare to an ACD. |
