I am in the pre-planning stage to go to one of these locations, just wondering if anyone might be keen....if you are please answer these:
Can you please tell me which country interests you more?
And would you be more likely to travel if trip was in the summer or the fall?
From 1 to 10 how likely would you be to actually come? (1 is LEAST likely, 10 MOST likely)
I really do not have prices but from north america I am (GUESSING) costs roughly 7000.00usd that would cover accomodations, park fees, food, transport in country and some international flight (depending where flying from) |

Good luck Ellamay!
I've just booked a trip to Kenya and Tanzania for August/September next year and can't wait.
I'm really excited about it as, other than a short trip to the Mara a couple of years back, I haven't toured Kenya and Tanzania since I was a teenager. Pete's not been at all.
Both Pete and I adore Namibia and would go back in a heartbeat. We particularly love the Namib Rand which is just stunning. Next time we go we'd like to meet the Himba people, visit Etosha, see some of the cave paintings in the country and visit the Cheetah Conservation centre.

I've never been to Kenya, but I've been to Namibia once briefly. I'm going back in March for two weeks. I've been to Malawi, Zambia, and twice to South Africa and Botswana, all to beautiful results. My tour guide friends down there say that if you want to go to Africa with the guarantee of getting good pictures, go to Namibia.
I'd say that the biggest thing you should keep in mind when planning a trip to sub-Saharan Africa is the rainy season. The roads aren't great there at all, trust me! I usually go to Africa in the fall, towards the end of the rainy season. That's when the roads are best. The earth is all brown, but the detail is amazing. The animals also all congregate around the few water sources so you are bound to get up close and personal with them.
If you are looking for people in more "traditional" clothing, I'd say Kenya might be a better bet. Otherwise, I'd vote for Namibia! |
