Seeing how HDR is DPC's current passion, having a gallery of its own makes a lot of sense. |

Trying again? =)
I think the word from SC is that it doesn't make sense to have galleries associated with techniques (HDR) as opposed to subject matter (Landscape). Which I think I have to agree with.
While you could argue that Black and White or Infrared are techniques, I think they have more precedence in photography, and therefore have earned their own categories. Still, you may have an argument that HDR is gaining this precedence...
I'll take straddle the fence for $600, Alex.

Abstract - I'd argue that this is subject matter. "I don't know what it is - it must be abstract!" =)
B&W - photography precedence/technique
Blur - Also subject matter, if the blur is what you're featuring
Digital Art - this is only because this is a photography site, so "non photography" goes here. =)
Diptych/Triptych - I admit this is not subject matter, but it's a special case with photographic precedence. And often having three images is integral to the message/story
Infrared - photography precedence
Macro - standard photography category, not a PP technique
Textures - this is subject matter
I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just saying that each of the above has it's reasons, mostly associated with traditional photography.
HDR is becoming a popular digital technique and may at some point merit a category. But I still lean toward the original argument that HDR is too "processing technique oriented" |
