So I look at the profile of another DPCer and I see they won a few ribbons. I'd like to have a look at those pictures, but clicking on one, going back, clicking on the next, etc. is a bit cumbersome.
It would be great if I could click on "Awards" and then get a thumbnail gallery of the ribbon winning entries of this user. Same for "Highest Rated Photographs" and "Challenge Entries".
Many users here have more than just a few images with high ratings. If I'd like to check them out, I need to sort their challenge entries and then click one at a time. I'd appreciate it a lot if this could be done via a thumbnail gallery.
Or have I overlooked another possibility?
What do you think? |

well in a way it can, people can organise their own folders within their portfolio. I have one for challenge entries, one for b/w etc etc, some have folders for 6s, 7s, ribbon winners etc. It's down to the individual user to organise it in a way they see fit. |

Yes, Tez, users can organize their photos in folders, but
- only members can do this, right?
- everyone will do it differently
- it can only be done one-dimensionally (an image can only be in one category)
Implementing thumbnail galleries for "Highest Rated" etc. would probably only take a few minutes and offer great benefits (and no disadvantages at all).
I enjoy fascinating pictures a lot and I'd like to share my enthusiasm with others. I'd like to show a friend the best images of another photographer, for example. But if I send them the link to that photographer's profile, they'll probably get lost there (a DPC profile page can be confusing if you have no clue how DPC works...). If I could send them a link to the thumbnail gallery of the "Highest Rated" or the "Awards" of a user, that would be awesome.
I'd also use this function often myself. When I discover a great picture of a user I haven't known before, I'd like to have a look at the rest of their work and I'm interested in more than just the five highest rated images. Filtering through the challenge entries is cumbersome, a thumbnail gallery would be a lot easier. |

Not that this is exactly what you want, but you can see a person's highest rated images on the profile page by:
- sorting the challenge entries by score (click the down arrow next to avg)
- opening all the thumbnails (click the little right-arrow next to "title")

Thanks, smurfguy, I didn't know about the right-arrow next to "title" (not very intuitive). The order of the steps seems to be important, you have to click:
- Show all
- Sort by average
- right-arrow
When you click on an image and then go back, the thumbnails disappear again. So you'd have to open several images in different tabs, for example. And you cannot send a link to someone that will automatically display the thumbs this way.
So although this is already quite helpful, it's not as useful as what I have in mind. |
