IMO she should have just locked the thread after my comment. That would not have bothered me at all. BUT to refute my last post with hers and THEN lock the thread was uncalled for. There have been MANY MANY MANY times when I would have liked to have made my comments the last post and then lock the thread. However, I don't have that power!

IMO this should never happen again. If SC wants to lock it, they should not be allowed "one last post" with no one else allowed after that. That is not fair. If SC wants something locked, then just state the reason and lock it.

Thanks,

Ken,

Perhaps a fair statement, but one thing leaves me puzzled:

If you truly felt that Pam and the rest of the Site Council generally acts in good faith, and that Pam made an error in judgment in this case, then why start a forum thread with an inflammatory title such as this one, and publicly calling her out for it, rather than addressing it privately to the Site Council as a whole, especially since our forum rules remind us to assume good faith, and not to use the forums to publicly accuse others of rule violations?

Not accusing, just hoping to understand what you hoped to accomplish with this thread...

well ken, I agree its ok to say you don't want to see gay dating games, etc, and that doesn't make you homophobic. However, that's not what jimbo said. What jimbo said was "at least he's not taking photos of other guys" and other similar comments stating that, essentially, things could be worse, he could be a *gasp* gay activist! That's the homophobia. Hatred for/fear of people who are homosexual.

This thread is beyond its purpose and usefulness. I am locking it.

She simply should have NOT stated her last opinion on the case if she was going to lock it up. That is what is not fair.

Though I understand Ken's stance up to a point, IMNSHO, it wasn't even as bad as Jimbo's homophobic and unnecessary comment.

She *IS* every bit as entitled to her opinion as we are.

And somebody please tell me why that thread wasn't in fact, well outside its purpose and usefulness.

Relative to that whole pack of dogs thing, frisca has certainly taken her fair share of being pushed around both in the previous thread and in this thread that was entitled such that it was guaranteed to come across as inflammatory and argumentative!

I still say that when someone gets really snotty with a member of SC that their punishment should be to have to field all the unpleasant tickets sent to SC for some pre-determined amount of time.....8>)

NikonJeb...you said:

I did not say she was not entitled. However, why should a SC member be able to state the FINAL opinion w/o a chance for me or Jimbo to reply.

You also said: And somebody please tell me why that thread wasn't in fact, well outside its purpose and usefulness.

It did in fact move outside it's usefulness and likely should have/would have been locked. But it is out of line for SC to state the last opinion and THEN decide the thread was useless. If it REALLY was useless, then she should have locked it WITHOUT including her word as the FINAL WORD ON THE SUBJECT !

Look, she came back, admitted locking the thread at that point was an error, and unlocked it. What more do you want?

That's kind of what I'm wondering, along with the question in my previous post...

Ditto that. One of the great skills in life is one of the simplest; to admit when you are wrong, even if you're only half-wrong. And one of the other great skills is to be a gracious winner.

We've seen one of those skills demonstrated in this thread...

Wonder why this thread is still going on, I thought she apologized in like the 3rd post? This thread should be locked if any.

I'm gonna have to agree with that question, give her a break, she didn't intend to abuse her power by getting the last word, then she apologized and said that that is not what she intended, please lay off guys, forgive her and move on with your life, stop bashing on her.

It's a little late, and I don't wish to re-hash any of the above, but I wanted to say how kind Frisca was to me when my Mum died 2 months ago. I'm a complete newbie on this site and when I approached the S.C. about a problem I had with something, they resolved it fairly and efficently - and were completely sympathetic and understanding to my situation.

I hardly post at all, but I read a lot, and I see a lot of warring going on in this fora. I don't mean to patronise, this is an observation and aimed at no-one in particular, but sometimes it's better to take a step back before you hit the reply button... if something gets your back up, leave it for an hour, then come back to it and post.

Best wishes :)
